Rob trained as a solicitor in the City of London. After qualifying he joined Flint Bishop Solicitors in Derby. After becoming a Partner in the firm in 2004 he then became the Head of their Employment and HR team in 2007, a role he held until 2019 when he left to start the new challenge at Precept.

Rob has worked with organisations of all shapes and sizes. During his career he has built a substantial client base ranging from household names with large HR teams to small businesses with no HR. He has also worked with national and local Government bodies, education establishments, sporting institutions and charities.

He recognises that many businesses require both Employment Law and HR advice and prefer to get that from one person. His work with clients ranges from being a sounding board for HR issues all the way through to complex Employment Law issues. He can attend or conduct HR meetings and carry out training so is a real one stop shop for all HR and Employment Law matters, no matter the size and structure of your organisation.

If you asked him what his favourite part of his job is, it is the relationships he builds with his clients. He has built relationships with clients that have lasted for years and both he and his clients see him as part of their team.

With the growth of the business comes a new and exciting chapter for Rob. As well as continuing to support clients with their HR and legal matters, he will also have a client service role.  He will be responsible for ensuring that our clients are happy and well looked after (which goes without saying!)  If you like, he is the “face” of Precept and in charge of getting our name out and about so that more people and businesses can benefit from the services we provide.

When he isn’t at work, Rob loves being with his family, and is usually dragged up to the stables by Emma (his wife) and children!  If he isn’t there, he will be in one of two other places – either doing something car-related, or on the beach…..which is more difficult than it sounds, living in Derby!
